Tips for dealing with a fear of heights

Admittedly, the commanding suspension bridges in Valais can make you feel a little queasy. And that’s even if you don’t suffer from a fear of heights. These tips will help you to make it across the deep ravines without feeling awful:

  • Breathe deeply in and out; this calms body and mind.

  • Engage anyone who is anxious in conversation. That will take their mind off their nervousness.

  • When crossing, focus on a stationary object or the person in front of you.

  • Concentrate on stepping firmly and placing the whole sole of your foot in contact with the ground.

    • If it gets too much for you, sit down.
  • Take your time crossing the suspension bridge.

  • Cross the bridge with another person or in a group.
