The 124 metre long suspension bridge is one of the hiking highlights in the Aletsch region. At a height of 80 metres, it crosses the Massa Gorge directly in front of the glacier gate of the Great Aletsch Glacier, connecting Belalp with Riederalp. The profound view into the Massa Gorge guarantees thrills and is an impressive experience.
While it used to be possible to cross the Aletsch Glacier from Belalp to Riederalp, this is no longer possible today due to the retreat of the glacier. The suspension bridge built in 2008 restores this old connection; all in cooperation with Pro Natura, the WWF and the UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch.
